Everything works perfectly. You need to make sure you insert the bag far enough for the vacuum to work properly. But there is always a learning curve to new things. This machine is better than others I've tried in the past and the price is reasonable. . . . .I had problems with the side locks. A little hard to press to lock it. I have nerve problems in my hands and got this make/model after reading a review from a buyer who had similar hand problems and how this model was not a problem for them.- - The good news is that you don't need a lock need pages if you just want to seal packages! I make several bags of different sizes before filling and vacuuming them. I only wish manufacturers would make it easier to engage the sidelocks. Finally, it's the hook clip that actually makes it snap into place. My recommendation for the manufacturer is to use a weaker spring on the movement. It would be easier for people to press the ends to lock it. - - - but that's just my opinion.
