It works! No drilling and Velcro!

Hooray! I'm so happy I finally found a really comfortable windowsill for my 12.5 lb cat. I can't use suction cup shelves because the old windows in my apartment aren't secure and I don't want to drill/nail and ruin the wall. I love that it's made from raw wood rather than plastic, giving it a solid feel and a minimal and clean look. I bet you can easily stain the wood to match your furniture too! The mat that comes with it isn't super soft, but the fluffy top is soft, color neutral and I love that it can be removed for washing. How it works is that the platform has metal parts that hook into a gap in your window frame. Your window MUST have room for metal parts to fit in or it won't work. When hooking the platform by the edge, push the bottom part as close to the wall as possible and pull tight, creating tension and support holding the platform. Having the right window sill should NOT require screws or nails in the wall or attaching velcro or tape. It remains complete because of the tension. However, once you've adjusted it to the right size, you can also easily remove the shelf from the windowsill by simply lifting it without having to loosen the screws if you need to move it to open the window. The assembly was easy for me, but I have a lot of experience in assembling IKEA furniture and the like. All you need is a screwdriver. They come with instructions that also include a QR code that links to a YouTube build video. Overall it took me about 15 minutes to assemble and install. A NOTICE. While it says you can use this on a sill up to 9 inches deep, I wouldn't recommend it for a sill more than 4 inches deep. If you have a larger window sill, the triangular piece of wood extends beyond the edge of the platform. It can still work, but it won't look good. My window sill is 4 inches deep (4.5 inches including the metal gap) and the edge of the wood triangle is about 1/8 inch below the edge of the platform.
