Exactly what I was looking for!

I was looking for a larger mortar than the 1 cup marble mortar I've been using for the past ten years. This option is perfect. It has a nice rough surface on the inside (not as rough as a molcajete, but rough enough to easily process a lot of pepper or red pepper flakes). This is also a very beautiful piece of stone. The silicone case feels comfortable. Silicone mat is useless, IMHO. idk, I think some people worry about their countertops, so here it is. I like the idea of a tiny bowl at the bottom, although I'm not sure when I'll be using it. If I need it, I'm sure glad to have it. The sides of the main bowl are clear vertical which is great for containing exploding peppercorns. The mini mortar has no sides, which can be handy for more delicate herbs that just need to be ground and not ground. Pestle is comfortable, looks very nice. For twenty bucks I'm pretty happy with my purchase.
