I gave this brace 5 stars because it fits the bill and provides good patellar support for the first 1-2 weeks after an injury (patellar luxation in my teenage son). Working with a physical therapist and later a personal trainer, he only began to feel more comfortable and stabilized after taping McConnell and using a patella strap on his return to football practice. He wore the brace to school for three to five weeks as a reminder to his friends not to bruise his knee, but took it off when he got home.
