The petal hood was a disappointment. It is only threaded on the outside and is not reversible. The retaining ring that comes with the lens hood is useless as the lens hood needs to stay loose to allow the photographer to keep the lens hood aligned with the frame. Also, the lens hood has no internal thread, which means you can't use the lens cap. Using a cap is debatable, but if you prefer a cap, you must remove the petal cap. I didn't purchase this lens hood kit, it just seemed like a nice bonus. I'll most likely abandon the petal hood and go for a double-sided one. The quality of the lens cap included in this kit is a bit rough although it works and could be an acceptable replacement if you lose the original cap. Everything else in this set is decent and mostly does what they're supposed to do. And all at a great price for getting started with experiments.
