The color is dirty brown but feels like any similar microfiber. They are thicker than a Patagonia base coat, for example. In terms of sizing, the waist is large for a medium size, but they run small. maybe 32 inseam. If you have longer legs, you may be unhappy. I used this every day for 2 weeks in the South African bush. Every morning it was close to freezing. These are comfortable pants but I have to say bulk was an issue on this trip when space in my holdall was at a premium.
