Failed to load media. I bought this moisture meter to check the humidity in my subfloor. I experimented with several pieces of wood to see what they measured under different conditions. I suppose it's good to do it yourself so you know how to interpret the results versus a known pattern. Dry chunk of 2x4, from my garage - 11.9% chunk of cedar from an outdoor wood pile that has not been recently watered - 12.9 to 14.1% chunk of cedar that has been recently watered - 24 to 26% chunk of cedar soaked in a bucket for 30 Minutes - from 27 to 30% The counter is quite easy to use. One button turns it on, one button toggles between building material and timber mode, and another button holds the reading. It beeps constantly and gets more frequent the wetter it is. It comes with a battery. The teeth are good and sharp. Seems to be a good gauge.
