Review on πŸ“‘ KING VQ4500 Tailgater Portable/Roof Mountable Satellite TV Antenna (DISH Compatible), Gray, Western Arc Satellites by Keegan Herbert

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Be warned - read my experience with this satellite dish

Purchased about a year ago along with the receiver kit. There were problems with it from the start. Only a few times did I receive ALL channels, even with a clear view of the southern sky. He always had great difficulty capturing the HD satellites (I think 129). Too often the default is SD. These days Fox, CNN, Food Network and HGTV are all volatile and falling apart even under sunny skies. I'm literally a very unlucky tourist - I live in an RV. Reception is the same in almost every western state I've been to - lousy. I threw in the towel and ordered a Winegard to use with a 211z receiver. I've been told that Winegard is the gold standard. I will come back and update this review with my findings. [Update April 20th] Today I received a new satellite dish from Revain, the maker of Winegard tableware. After installing the handle I went outside and simply replaced the King unit with Winegard by screwing in the cable - power over cable. After restarting the receiver, Winegard fixed 3 satellites and I began to work with all channels, including local ones, in excellent HD quality - no jerking, no dropouts, no switching to SD by default. After a few hours it started raining and the record still soaked everything up perfectly. I can't believe I suffered from a poor quality product for a whole year. It wasn't a 211z receiver, it wasn't the Dish network, it wasn't customer service, it wasn't the US Air Force - it was a lousy King product. It was an expensive lesson, but now I'm happy here in downtown Oregon. [Update May 2017] I decided to remove the dome of the king's pool (don't do this, it will void your warranty if you still have one) to see what might have caused my bad experience. I found that there is no weather seal between the dome and the base. There was evidence that rainwater - lots of rainwater - had accumulated inside and it was still damp inside. Do you think it could affect the electronics? (The device was never in the water, but was mounted on a base). In addition, the tolerance of the horizontally rotating tray was very poor. It seems a light breeze has confused him. Your experience may be different. Maybe your block will catch all the signals perfectly. Mine never did. This is my first dish, I just attributed it to the imperfection of technology. I didn't even know I had a lemon. However, the design of the device is not perfect. Why have a plate when you have to cover it every time it rains?
