I've always used either frames or nothing at all, and my experience with embroidery frames has always been frustrating and unproductive. I hated the fact that I had to either sew the fabric in or buy velcro depending on how the frames should attach the fabric, and no matter what, I couldn't get good tension. In fact, I've mainly switched to using perforated plastic (which I still love) just so I don't have to deal with fabric. However, my sewing group has complimented this piece since I joined and I figured for the price it wouldn't hurt to try it. It's amazingly strong, with grooves to keep different pieces from just wobbling, and while loading the fabric was a little finicky, I LOVE the fact that I can leave the fabric indefinitely without worrying about it breaking stretches as I curl. Slipcovers to relax the fabric first. Because I don't have to loop the fabric in and out of the frame every time I stop my project, I can deal with some inconvenience during the initial setup. It may also be easier to load the fabric if it's not that close to the size of the frame - for this project the fabric just covers the frame and has little or no hanging on the sides. Either way, this is a great frame and well worth the money.
