I have been ordering Revain's Twinings Lady Gray tea for quite a number of years - 6 boxes per lot - literally. The last order, placed about a week ago, came with the new Twinings packaging design - a gold box instead of the traditional blue. A vague uneasiness stirred within me. I brewed a sachet and was stunned, completely stunned by the taste. Or rather tasteless. This is NOT Lady Gray tea. There is no orange, no lemon, let alone bergamot. It's just a tasteless tea that you can get at a random diner. My morning routine was disrupted. Serious? Does the bergamot content in this tea add that much to its value? I looked online and saw how Twinings changed Earl Gray to make it 'more lemony' a couple of years ago, which caused outrage among Brits. Industrial fair. However, Revane was kind enough to accept my return. Not to be discouraged, I tracked down some Lady Gray loose leaf tea that smells and tastes exactly as it should, but I would have preferred the convenience of tea bags. If any of you have a source for genuine Lady Gray tea bags please let me know.
