So I got this as an external mic when my internal mic on my RD-5R failed. Since the RD-5R is a DMR radio, a time domain RF pulse pulses the speaker microphone when you speak, making it sound to a parrot or other signal you are transmitting as if you are in a sit helicopter. The weird thing (for a newbie like me) is that when I use it on my UV-5R in direct analog VHF/UHF everything is fine. Notice it as TDMA spikes on DMR so much you'll definitely notice. I know there are ways to use ferrite beads and solder resistors and capacitors to clean up the signal and eliminate HF. So far I haven't found a suitable mic for this particular speaker but there is a lot of information out there and it's only a matter of time before the problem is solved and it will be a great little speaker mic again.
