The fit and finish of this tool is much better than a standard cheap solder sucker. The spring is quite strong and generates a good "thrust". As already mentioned, the main disadvantage is the tendency to clog. With a few simple measures, however, the probability of clogging can be reduced to almost zero. First cut the silicone tube short enough. When the plunger is pushed all the way down, the cleaning probe should reach the end of the tube. The pipe doesn't have to be longer. This allows better ejection of solder stuck directly to the tip. After each operation, squeeze the tip on a workbench before pushing the plunger all the way down. This usually loosens the solder in the tube and allows the probe to push it out. Second, unscrew the tip and spray some lithium grease into the hole, the tip. (Other lubes may work, I had that on hand.) This creates a smooth surface in the channel so the solder can't stick to it and create those really massive blockages. Reapply every time you clean the chamber. I wasn't happy with this tool until I did the above, but now I've found that it gets the job done quite well with minimal effort.
