Review on 🎨 Brighten Your Crafts with ACTIVA Hearty Clay - White Crafting at its Finest by Angela Rodriguez

Excellent light tone for volume and overall shape.

I noticed a lot of negative reviews about this tone and I really liked it. It's perfect? no It cracks as it dries, but beyond that you'll be hard pressed to find a lighter shade. It mixes well with most epoxy based putties like Zelenka and even JB Steel Wield Putty. I tend to make composite sculptures and the light weight helped me sculpt some large pieces. Often larger sculptures are either ungodly heavy or collapse without the use of rebar due to the clay mass. I find this tone is best used to add volume to a sculpture in a semi-detailed area. Because it blends well with most part A and B exposures like greens, it has helped me save my more expensive clays for detail work. For what it can do I find it amazing, especially for large sculptures. I make a solid armature and fill the overall shape with aluminum foil or styrofoam and then use dense clay to add some oxing and detail and then work out the details with more expensive putty/clay. I also prefer using self-curing polymer clays over backing clays. I'm pretty sure savory clay burns into a toxic cloud of regret when baked, and I don't think it will work like sculpt with thermal clay.

Pros
  • ACMI certified non-toxic, odorless; brought from Japan
Cons
  • I don't remember, but there was something
