Please fire the designer who helped create the mounting bracket. The supplied mounting bracket is completely unsuitable for most intended mounting surfaces. For wall mounting - 2" x 4" studs (mounting on 2" pieces). On the ceiling it is best to mount on the hole bracket that is already installed in most garages and attach the garage door motors to the ceiling. The bracket must have a perforated corner bracket and be capable of properly mounting to at least a 2" wall stud or 2" ceiling joist. Motor as the bracket provided will not mount to a 2" ceiling joist. Also the latch will wobble a bit when pulling the cord out. You have to pull the cord quickly and stop quickly or the latch won't catch the cord and stop it. It takes a little getting used to, but it works. I like that there is a light at the end of the cord so that I know at least I have power on the cord I'll leave it at that but Lord improve the design of the bracket.
