Review on Kensington Hi Fi Headphones 9 Foot K33137 by Ryan Koser

Lack of bass and lower mids - use Yamaha RH1C instead

Okay, let me get to the point. DO NOT take these headphones with you. Get the Yamaha RH1C instead. (I already wrote a review in their honor, so I won't repeat it here.) The downside to these Kensington Hi-Fi In-Ear Headphones with 9ft Cable (K33137) is a severe lack of bass. and low mids. They sound like a high pass filter below 500Hz or so. They have very clear mids and good highs, but there's no body at all. In contrast, my Audio-Technica ATH-P5 headphones (which have been well used and are now falling apart) show what lightweight on-ear headphones of this form factor can do when properly designed and engineered. Unfortunately they are now out of production. I bought these Kensignton headphones primarily for the long 9ft cord for practicing electric guitar through a floor mounted amp module. With my ATH-P5, the short cord was always bothersome as I had to use an extension cord and the weight of the connector interface dangled and dangled. Also, don't take Panasonic RP-HT21 headphones with you. While they're slightly better than these Kensingtons in bass and lower mids, they're still severely lacking in those frequencies. Also, the Panasonic RP-HT21 headphones painfully advertised upper mids, which I found quite tiring to listen to. Again, just grab the Yamaha RH1C headphones. Just note that the Yamaha cable has an 8-foot cord that's perfect for playing electronic musical instruments, but not as great for practicing with an iPod.
