Review on 🐠 CO2 Generator System Kit for Aquarium Plants with Solenoid Valve, Bubble Counter, Check Valve, and Carbon Dioxide Reactor – Decdeal DIY Aquarium Kit by Nicole Bryant

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A good homemade product if you put everything together piece by piece

I bought this product just over a month ago and I was immediately disappointed with the device. I set it up and it worked, and on the second day everything from bottle A spilled into bottle B. I've tried a few different things and nothing seemed to work so I took the advice of another review (Colin) and bought a strong magnet and was able to keep the suction pressure up but it did little to help. Then the magnet failed so I asked Revain to send a replacement. That's the only thing that saved me from a bad review! When a replacement was sent, things were very different. The solenoid was bigger and looked sturdier and I noticed there were gaskets there which I never received on my first order. It was the difference between day and night. I immediately disassembled the device and used Teflon tape on all connections. I got the spacers and put the big ones on the 2 liter bottles (that makes all the difference). My original item didn't have these seals and the gas leaked out of the cylinders even though I applied a lot of teflon tape. The spacers kept the pressure in the bottles where they should be and I've been using the same solution for a month. But you get what you pay for and the bubble counter broke shortly after, but that's okay because everything else has worked great so far. What I found out about it is ok in my situation but maybe not for others. The pressure fluctuates. One day you are at 1 PSI and the next day at 3. Using a magnet helps control this BUT on days when you are at a higher PSI more bubbles per second are entering the reservoir. So unlike the canister, you don't get a constant amount every day. You will get some fluctuations and unless you are home to keep an eye on it some days you will have too much CO2 in your tank. I got around this by running the bubbler for a few hours at night. This appears to help the fish avoid getting carbon monoxide poisoning. Also, some people say the pressure gauge isn't working, which may well be true, but it takes quite a while to get to 1 PSI. Even if I can feel the pressure inside the bottles and can't squeeze the bottle from the outside, that doesn't mean the pressure will reach 1 PSI. Not sure how accurate the sensor is but of the two devices I received this was pretty much the only one that worked on both items.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • No performance
