The carafe broke only 2 weeks after delivery. My wife used the carafe three times and she found it worked well. Unfortunately, the very thick, double-lined cork that goes into the neck and naturally shrinks as the carafe cools is very difficult to remove. This resulted in the neck breaking and only gently twisting the cork to remove it. We're in our 70's and my wife's arm strength is below average so this wasn't the result of her coercion or rough handling of the thing. She was lucky she didn't cut her hand when it fell apart.
