Review on 🌑️ Efficient Monitoring for Your Refrigerator/Freezer: Taylor Precision Products Connoisseur Tube Thermometer by Tim Crowder

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Beautifully crafted product - Wow! scratch, defect just discovered

I bought these because a reviewer mentioned they tested them for accuracy with a lab thermometer and they were very accurate. I installed one in the top freezer and the other in the bottom fridge. Em-mm! I just tested both while writing this review and the liquid false mercury indicator in the top thermometers has been broken down into smaller sections. Completely unreadable! So this is for these. Now I have to buy other cheaper ones that I know. Maybe they are good, I don't know now, probably all thermometers have defective models. UPDATE: I decided to try and fix the broken red fake mercury tube by taking the thermometer housing apart and holding the internal thermometer over a small space heater I have and running the red column to the end of the glass tube, hopefully forcing it drained the red liquid, which did happen. I don't know how much you can heat them up, but just follow the red line until everything is connected. After eliminating the gaps in the red line, I brought the thermometer to room temperature and then placed it on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator overnight. In the morning I compared both thermometers and they were almost the same, so I put them back in the freezer. It should also be noted that these thermometers have removable rubber plugs that allow a person to attach them to a refrigerator cabinet using built-in magnets. I changed their rating to 5 stars because they are really well made and designed to give a person multiple ways to attach them to the inside of the fridge. If you have a problem with a broken red line, simply gently place the thermometer in a mild heat source and trace the red line to the bottom of the tube or the tip of the tube and see if the gaps close into one. solid line as it should be for an accurate reading. For safety reasons, do not heat over an open flame. UPDATE (7 Jul '14): I had to throw one away because the red liquid never stuck - the other one I have seems fine.
