I had to replace the original remote of the same brand/design as it stopped working intermittently. At first I assumed the batteries needed replacing, but the problem persisted even with new batteries: the remote worked for a while and then inexplicably stopped working. After a few minutes, an hour or a day, it will work normally again. At first only the volume control didn't work, later the oddities spread to other functions. If I removed and replaced the same batteries, I was able to work for a few minutes, but eventually the remote stopped working again. The problem isn't bad batteries - I've found it. And having encountered the same problem on two different devices, I can only conclude that this remote is at fault.
