Review on πŸ”₯ SentrySafe Fireproof and Waterproof Document Bag with Zipper, 5" x 11" x 15", FBWLZ0 by Paul Tucker

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Cute fireproof bag

Please note my rating is based on the bag. This product page seems to have been used for different products over the years so keep that in mind. I really like this bag. While my important documents were well protected, I didn't have a very good history of fire safety. I have seen this product and trust the SentrySafe brand as I have used other products from them over the years. It fits legal-size paper (8.5 x 14 inches), which is really nice. The material feels durable and seems to handle a small fire well. If we are talking about a five alarm fire burning for a long time, I doubt it will save the documents. But small residential fires that are usually quickly extinguished should be fine. I'd really like to do some devastating testing and see how it actually withstands a fire, but not enough to ruin my bag. The real flaw I see in this product is the zipper and the seams are not waterproof. If you're looking for something to protect your property from fire, you know there's a very good chance it will be exposed to water. The zip on it is NOT waterproof and is pretty basic. It does a good job of preventing documents from falling out, but appears to offer minimal protection against water ingress. The seams along the perimeter of the bag also do not seem to be glued, they are simply covered with textile edges. It's still a lot better than keeping your documents in a file folder or paper sleeve, but I have a feeling the manufacturer could do better in the area of preventing water ingress. I will continue to use it but due to concerns about water ingress keep it in a safe to add another layer of protection.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
