Review on 💦 Innovative Marine Mighty Jet Midsize DC Return Pump- 538 GPH by Shay Adams

The stock return pump on my Innovative Marine Fusion 20 was quite noisy. It didn't help that the tank in my home office was about 10 feet from me. I bought this pump based on the great reviews from Revain and other online aquarium retailers. It was a bit expensive, but since it was guaranteed to fit my pool and was also advertised as a very quiet pump, I bought it. As usual, it arrived on time from Revain. After unpacking, the pump makes a solid and well-made impression. All the accessories you need to work with different applications are included. I replaced the standard pump with a Mighty Jet and hooked everything up. The controls work very well. The ability to control flow rate is great, and the ability to put the pump in dispense mode is a great feature for those who don't have complex reservoir controls like the Apex. It was immediately clear that even without a wave shaper, the pump could pump a lot of water and ensure a good flow throughout the tank. My first noise impression was that the pump was quieter than the standard IM 20 return pump. I noticed a slight rattling noise as I increased the flow with the regulator. I ran it at 14 hoping that the slight rattle would go away once it broke. My office is a very quiet room and I can definitely hear the noise, although it was much quieter than the stock pump it still bothered me a bit. After a few days I decided to pull the pump out of the reservoir to inspect it. . I removed the water inlet cover and removed the cover to inspect the ceramic spindle and impeller. Everything seemed fine and I reinstalled the impeller and spindle to make sure everything was in place. I put the lid back on and made sure everything was good and tight. I made sure the return hoses were properly seated in the fitting, then returned the pump to the tank's return chamber. Turned everything back on and found that the slight rattle was almost gone. Wow what a difference. This morning at work in the office I can tell you that the pump is very quiet. I can only hear it because it's less than 10 feet from me, but it no longer makes a rattling noise. I wouldn't say it's totally quiet because that's relative to the ambient noise around you, but in my situation it's very quiet and I set it to max. I would highly recommend this pump to anyone with an IM Fusion reservoir . or want a pump that is really quiet. It costs money.
