Review on Lifetime 9594 Universal Mounting Kit by Brett Kolpack

Revainrating 4 out of 5

High quality mounting kit, good instructions and some tips on how to get the back panel up in the air for wall mounting.

With this kit you get a lot of quality parts at a great price. I found the instructions and pictures clear enough so the company probably listened to the reviewers and improved the instructions. I made a wall mount in my garage and installed a Lifetime 73729 shield and rim combo with a steel frame that attaches very securely to the mounting kit with 1/2" screws. Suggestion 1, 2 long bolts that go through the mounting kit and through holes in the steel frame of the sign are very difficult to insert, when you have 40 ponds of the sign and the rim is balancing in the air it's not easy to align the holes with the holes both sides together. I found a much simpler solution, I used four 1/2" x 1" stainless steel bolts with lock washers and nuts so each mounting hole could be inserted separately. Once you've inserted and secured a screw, it's much easier to lift the back panel from the other side and line up the other hole with the new screw than trying to push a long screw all the way through. If possible, start with the top holes as the corner braces are already attached at the top and the shield can only hang slightly on these two top studs. The end of the rope is attached to the sign from the roof, the rope runs through a pulley fixed on the roof and lowers to the woman on the ground where she can safely take up the slack and secure the other end lifting the rope off the ground. This worked well and kept the sign aloft during assembly, although I had to pull the rope away from the wall a bit to get it through the underside of the mounting bracket as the brackets were sticking out farther in the air than my reel. 3: As instructed, I place the rim on the back panel before lifting the back panel. The rim brings a lot of weight with it. I think I could leave the rim u-bolts in the board and use a ladder to finish assembling the rim after I had the board in place. I'm not entirely sure you can do it, but if I were to do it again, I'd do my best to do it that way and be able to snap the much lighter shield back into place first bring.
