It seems cheap but cheap at the same time so I'm not complaining. It toasts bread well, I haven't tried bagels yet. The crumb tray is quite handy and overall I'm happy with my purchase. To fix the overheating issue: I checked and the sides do get a little warm, but that's when I use the toaster on a higher setting than usual because I like my toast to get a little burned. When my husband uses it on lower settings there are no overheating issues. Also, nobody touches the sides of the toaster, so that's not a problem for me.
