My original antenna was broken so there was no threaded hole to attach it. There was a cable attached to the original antenna. I attached the antenna to the cable with a small bolt and nut, so it was a bit more difficult than a normal installation. The antenna was easy to attach to my roof and covered the old antenna. It arrived with mounting tape already attached to the shark fin. This made it easier to stick to my roof. I decided to put a flexible bag that weighs about a pound on the shark fin. I left it on the antenna for a couple of hours. I did this to ensure a good roof seal. I also waited 5 days to have my car washed to make even more sure the antenna was securely fixed on the roof of my car. Special care may not have been required, but I'm a little paranoid. I'm a retired electronics engineer and I'm impressed with how well this antenna works. The number of stations I receive with a strong signal is impressive. The antenna looks great too. The antenna is a great value. I hate thinking how much it would cost to have it fixed at my Lexus dealership.
