Great backup alarm when working

I like the sound. A small load that is good. Worked great for a dozen uses, but now it only works when it wants to. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't make any sound. Probably a bad device as I checked the power supply to the device and it said 12-14 volts DC. There is a small audible pop when quickly unplugging and plugging the device in, but that's about it. Seems like not using the device for a period of time will reset it or something and it will start working again until it stops working.
