Decent Large Dog Bed

Dog beds can be expensive but this one was comparable online with a slightly lower price but great reviews. My must-haves are a removable, machine-washable cover and soft, durable padding for my aging dog's thighs. I usually wash once a month and change once a year. I've bought dog beds from TJ Maxx, Homegoods, and Costco. The color I ordered was grey, but I would definitely say that the color is more towards grey/blue. This bed is upholstered with the top part of the pillow sewn into the cover. and the bottom foam is a separate piece with a fun zippered waterproof pocket. I love that it is a separate cover that needs to be washed. It would be nice if the top of the pillow was one piece that was washable as well. The bottom pillow is similar to the top of the egg carton foam pillow you would use as a mattress topper. This is not memory foam. I would compare it to the foam you buy at a craft store. Everything is OK. I find dog beds made with foam pieces or shape memory to be more comfortable and durable as they swell up again when given sunlight and fresh air. My dog didn't hesitate to flop down on it once I picked him up! The flash on it is terrible. Reason enough to deduct a star. I don't see any zippers or foam on the bottom that will last a year with a monthly wash. It seems that when you zip, the zipper inevitably gets caught on the foam! I plan to keep this dog bed as it is decent for the price and I needed a rectangular one. I put Costco's dog beds first, even though they currently only sell super-soft, oversized round beds. They are so cute and fluffy, the cover comes off easily for washing, great zip and damn strong.
