I think I received a defective unit. Looked perfect but didn't mount SD cards which could be read in my old cheaper slower SD reader. The first PC was a desktop running Windows 10. The USB 3 mobo port recognized and mapped 4 empty drive letters, but didn't recognize any of the 3 SD cards (2GB, 16GB, 32GB), despite the obnoxious red Kingston -Logo flashed within 60 seconds of insertion. "Please insert a disc into the removable disk slot". blah. The second computer was a laptop running Windows 7. The USB3 port recognized a drive letter and asked me to format it. with or without an SD card inserted. Attempting to "format" did not work. Attempting to update the firmware didn't work (broken links on Kingston's website for that). Have even tried another wide USB3 cable. No dice. Return for a different make and model.
