I recently bought a new 2017 Kaby Lake MacBook Pro but now they only have USB Type-C ports. I also had an 8TB Seagate backup drive and used the USB 3.0 port on a hub, but that's still quite a hassle, and data needs to be transferred to other things through the hub. This cable was perfect as it plugged directly into my Seagate Expansion 8TB external desktop hard drive and then into the USB-C port on my MacBook Pro. It's amazing how much faster he's gotten. Although my hub uses USB 3.0 which supports 5Gb/s, it is much faster and is not used with anything else now. It's perfect for what I need it for. I received it quickly and it's a high quality IMO cable.
