I didn't dare to replace the screen myself because I don't understand anything about the technology. I chose this as I had previously (twice!) replaced the Kindle Fire screen (the first one was faulty) after watching YouTube. It was MUCH easier. It literally only took 10 minutes. For those who have a cracked screen and want to replace it, DO NOT take it to a computer repair shop or, heaven forbid, send it to the manufacturer. They will charge you an exorbitant amount to replace it and have a backup of all your data or pay "in case" it gets erased during the repair. Reconnect to a new screen. Many YouTube videos will help you with this. Too simple! Launched in minutes. No problem. Arrived in 2 days. Brilliant!
