1-year update: BIG UP! Oh my god, support costs more than a printer.

I've been using this thing for a year now, occasionally as needed. I turned it off most of the time to save power and EVERY TIME I try to print it turns on, adjusts and prints. . every time The copies are as crisp as when they were purchased and my wife is no longer afraid when I mention printers. . . . I like it more now than when I bought it, mostly because it continues to do what I bought it for and I don't have to think about what to do if it doesn't work. . Why aren't phones like this? Why aren't the new (above) kitchen appliances like these? One day it will be like our 22-year-old Toyota pickup that starts on the 1st train every time (n times). I bought it, called, they said to wait an HOUR! . .Finally the sweetest lady answered, answered 400 questions from a now completely freaky customer after sitting on the phone for an hour looking at router settings, printer settings, modem settings, WINDOZE setup screens and wondering why not just kill myself now . . . She helped me update firmware, mess with sleep settings, set up copy, printer, scan, email, windows drivers and mopria android drivers. . and after 2 hours and 40 minutes with this gift of God's tech support, the damn thing is working. . repeated. My wife went for coffee with the dog to escape the theater and returned to the happy camper. . .This printer has more settings than the entire US Army canteen system. . no consumer can do this without giving up his main job. . . but Tovandia (that's her real name) took it all calmly, politely pointed me in the right direction and treated me like a human being. . Documents and photos and even the car itself. . everything looks pretty good and it's a silent machine, you can even control the volume of the noises it makes; The control panel is pretty fun, if a little intimidating, but like I said, the damn thing works. . . The cost per page to print is a bit higher since the ink cartridge ALSO contains an imaging drum, BUT unless you're printing in batches, paying 4-6 cents per page isn't that big of a deal since the new laser imaging uses a drum and combination of inks delivers excellent images very quickly every time. . and no damn inkjet clog disasters or boot changes. i love this thing .I scanned some stuff and emailed it to my wife just because I could. . I changed the folder where all the scans are saved just because I could, I even printed out an envelope with addresses that looked like I knew how to set up envelope file #10. . oh happy day . .Incredibly complex, complicated, encyclopedic knowledge and the support handled it all without a discouraging word or roll call. I have retained self-respect. . and a working printer. Installation for the average consumer is not recommended unless it is psychologically risky. . . .
