LR3s have no torque specs for their filters and very little space underneath and unless you have a tricky elbow good luck acquiring a filter cap bushing (or a filter key for all Cases). The 1" socket allows you to use a standard 1" socket on a torque wrench, as well as a standard crescent or socket wrench to turn on and off. It's slightly larger than an OEM filter, but it's easy to get in and out of a building and cuts filter change time in half and likely reduces the amount of swearing you utter under a car by 75%.
