I replaced an old tailgate damper that was obsolete. I thought this one would work better and prevent the tailgate cable from being pinched between the shock and the truck body, but even when the plastic latch is in the right place it still gets stuck there. Although I don't know how. If this happens and I open the tailgate, the plastic part is in contact with the tail light and there is a risk of damaging the tail light. At some point, the plastic rear light glass broke on my old one. I think I'll have to put tubing on the plastic piece and shrink it in place to make it big enough so it doesn't get stuck. This is on a 2006 Dodge 2500. Also, the installation was easy and the instructions are well written. The shock absorber works as intended and slowly opens the tailgate.
