Review on Nikon D3100 DSLR Camera with Auto Focus-S Nikkor Zoom Lens (Discontinued by Manufacturer) by Nurul ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The purchase brought only positive emotions.

A full-fledged DSLR for its price, which, in principle, can do everything the same as older brothers. Perhaps it does not have some cool features when compared with more expensive cameras. But it fulfills its price more than completely! For a beginner, this is the best option for the money, it will help you understand what you need and in which direction to move on.

Pros
  • 1. Price. In April 2022, I took a used one for 10 thousand, in almost new condition. 2. Reliability and workmanship. For a year and a half of use, the camera never let me down, although the operation was sometimes quite tough. Temperatures from -40 to +40, rain, snow, it withstands all tests more than adequately. 3. Convenience and ease of use. For complete beginners, a guide mode is provided, where everything is shown in detail. There are also Landscape, Portrait, Macro and etc. Personally, it took me about 30 minutes to completely get used to it and start shooting, the menu is simple and there are no complicated settings. 4. Weight and dimensions. Really light, and the body itself does not take up much space in the bag, even with a whale lens. 5. Excellent autonomy. It can withstand more than 500 frames on a single charge, I charge it once every couple of weeks) With a batblock, I think it will last 900 frames calmly. 6. Image quality and RAW format. Even with a whale lens, the camera shows good image quality. Of course, you should not expect excellent results from him at high ISO, but in normal light everything is very good. And if anything - there is a RAW format that forgives many beginner mistakes. 7 Video. I use it extremely rarely, it is not the coolest, but the very presence of this function in such a cheap DSLR pleases.
Cons
  • 1. Burst speed and small frame buffer. I wish it was a little faster. Well, the frame buffer is small, sometimes because of this, the camera does not allow the next frame to be taken for a long time when shooting in a series. 2. Screen. It's good, but the picture quality is sometimes lacking. 3. Dynamic range and RAW format. RAW is still cut here, so it does not always stretch well. At ISO 400, noticeable noise already appears. 4. Viewfinder. Small, frame coverage is not full, dark. Everything described here is more features than disadvantages. After all, the camera is the most entry-level.
