I'm a complete novice when it comes to baking, so I was dying to try this Elite Gourmet Maxi-Matic EBM8103B Programmable Bread Maker that claims to be foolproof. The item arrived on time, complete as shown by the seller and well packaged in a strong box for protection. The kitchen countertop footprint looks like a slow cooker, and this appliance is slightly larger; Considering its size, this bread maker is quite light. Due to my inexperience, I read through the 10-page guide multiple times to make sure I got it right the first time; I found a few minor inconsistencies, but nothing that would put me off. I followed the initial cleaning and preheating instructions, and then I went to buy the ingredients for my first bread. There are 19 different programs pre-installed and half of them allow you to work with small/medium/large sizes. For the first try, I chose the simplest medium-crust, medium-sized white bread using program #1. The instructions emphasize the importance of using the correct ingredients/amounts and the order in which they are placed in the casserole dish; So I followed the instructions exactly again. Once the form is placed in the bread maker, it is enough just to press the "Startโ button for everything to work. The program I chose has a duration of 3 hours, which, as I noticed, are divided into 3 roughly equal periods of time. For about 50 minutes, the bread maker alternates between stirring and resting for a few minutes; Stirring mixed the ingredients together into a fist-sized ball of dough, which then settled and flattened as it rested. This was followed by fermentation for about 1 hour, during which the volume of the dough more than doubled (all of this can be seen through the viewing window in the lid of the bread machine). Finally bake for about an hour more until the machine beeped at the end of the cycle; During this time, the kitchen was filled with a soothing smell of bread baking that evokes memories of childhood. You can see the photo with the result in the application. The taste and texture of the warm, freshly baked bread didn't disappoint and I look forward to trying more sophisticated baking options like French bread, whole wheat bread, sandwich bread, etc. Two small points to note. 1) The bread is baked with built-in dough hook; This will leave a slight dent on the bottom of the loaf when demolded. This in no way detracts from my enjoyment of bread, but I draw the attention of all perfectionist bakers to this. 2) I won't be using this bread maker every day and it takes up a lot of kitchen counter space... As such, it will spend most of its life in a kitchen cupboard, and unfortunately it lacks the cord storage feature of some other devices.
