Unbearably loud for computer components

Trust other reviewers - the fan is loud even when idle. Other than that, it's a good unit, so I don't know why they didn't bother to use a decent fan. I will try the fan mod. Edit: I've decided to downgrade it to 1 star. It's too loud. A fan mod is dangerous and will void your warranty. Spend a little more to get a better device like the 7660B - it's worth it. There are many stories on the internet of people shorting out and on fire after trying a fan mod. There are much easier ways to save $60.
