I cleaned the sensor for the first time after about six years of intensive use. Here's a video I made to show you how the gel pen works (http://youtu.be/aq16g479A-E). Using Lightroom's Visualize Spots, I saw that the gel pen removed almost all of the particles from my 30D's sensor. It met my expectations. I feel a lot happier and more confident using the gelstick method instead of wiping, blowing, or suctioning the sensor. Why can't they provide twenty sticky notes? I don't want to buy a $20 pack of duct tape every few years. I hope they last at least five years. If you're using a gel pen, be aware that if you press lightly on the sensor, it will crease noticeably. You can poke the sensor a few millimeters from the edge of the sensor and actually pick up all the dust because of the way it pops out. Also be careful, it is a counterfeit of this product! If I remember correctly, the original and authentic one has the Eyelead embossing on the metal can and is of course Made in Germany. As a BFA holder in photography, I recommend a gel pen for sensor cleaning first. When I saw the amount of dust that came off and stuck to the paper, I believed it!
