Possible fire hazard

Caution, sparks/popping when connecting. May be normal, just more visible as the plastic is translucent. Fearing damage to our phones or a possible fire, we decided to purchase the Apple brand. Very well packaged, a carrying bag was included. Unfortunately we will not use them.
