Review on Camera Canon PowerShot G15 by Thanh Qu ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I didn't expect the quality to be so high.

Single-lens compact cameras with fixed lenses are needed as a class. And do not compare them with DSLRs. Why are they needed? Because they are convenient, everything is included, they are immediately ready for work, for dummies they work well on the machine, for non-dummies you can set up and manage the process. In digital cameras, first of all, everything is determined by the matrix and processor, and lenses and functions can already be wound around them. In general, I was a theoretical opponent of Canon, considering their cameras as alternative, average, for "everyone". I did not like Canon's work with color, unlike Pentax, Panasonic, Nikon. Nikon 7700 or Samsung EX2F aimed at the compact. But then came the Canon G15. And comparing with the above named, everyone liked it. Canon's work with color has been somewhat improved, the processor is the latest, hence the speed, the sensitivity of the matrix is very high, the working sensitivity is up to ISO 1600. The video is of very decent quality, there are shortcomings, but this is not a video camera. The fact that the screen is not swivel, so I do not particularly feel the need for it. If you choose, it is better to have a screen that tilts up and down and has two attachment points like the Fujifilm FinePix HS25, HS30, and some Sony DSLRs. So I had to take the Canon G15.

Pros
  • Price at those capabilities and image quality A new excellent lens with an optimal range of focal lengths. The new powerful processor and the consequences of it: fast turn on, fast focusing, fast shooting of a series of frames (10 per second). fast rewind of captured frames, high-speed video recording of 120 and 240 frames per second (with partial resolution). Lots of different features. Recording in RAW and high-quality in-camera JPG. Small size and weight - in a case it will fit into a large pocket, Ergonomics: many buttons and adjustment wheels, in the tradition of a DSLR.
Cons
  • There are shortcomings, but not critical. For me, this is Canon's traditional color work. However, there is chromatic aberration. Above, they wrote here that it can be removed in processing programs, well, this needs to be done on purpose.
