Review on πŸ’‘ APC P12U2 Surge Protector Power Strip with USB Ports - 4320 Joule 12 Outlet Surge Protector by Dan Dickey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Surge Protection: Not bad for the money. 4320J 400/500/500 Clamping voltage

As a lifelong electronics engineer and electronics trainer (technical college entrance qualification) There are two parameters that determine the quality of a surge protective device: 1. Clamping voltage: the lower, all the better. 330 = Good 400 = Fair 500 = Poor (This unit is rated for 400V hot to neutral and 500V to ground for the other two legs. Good. 2nd Joule rating: higher is better. I recommend at least 3000 joules since this also protects the device itself this is the amount of excess energy the device can handle once the voltage rating has been exceeded at 4320 joules which is good however it could be a million joules and it's of no use if the clamping voltage increases is high , and it will not turn off the surge voltage fast enough! Also, the metal case is better than plastic in case of fire. It is a plastic case.
