Handling Scratches on Windshield

I cleaned a frozen windshield with the wrong "scraper" leaving 6-8 fairly long scratches and a few short ones. I didn't want to replace my windshield and found mention of cerium oxide online. My nail wobbled as I ran it over the scratch, but kept moving. I thought the scratches might be too deep for this product. I only ordered this small amount as I didn't think it would work for me. I was wrong, it worked fine. I used a small Dremel tool and a felt pad that was only about an inch wide. I marked the scratches on the inside of the windshield with a black magic marker giving me a target area to edit. Scratch. I followed the scratch, working back and forth, not knowing what would be best. I held the pad flat against the glass and applied only moderate pressure. If I pushed too hard my tools would slow down and I knew I needed to relax a little. Small scratches appeared fairly quickly. Deeper and wider ones took a little longer. I scraped off the residue and wiped the inside of the windshield with rubbing alcohol to remove the black marker. If I could still see the scratch, I repeated the application process. It took 3-4 attempts to remove all the scratches. The black marker helped, but the white one could have been better. Black was a little hard to see. Try it on your scratches. It won't hurt to try. It wasn't that difficult. Just give yourself some time to work hard. You might want to wear goggles and an old shirt. The rotating tool scattered the paste a little. Much luck.
