The device does what it should. It takes an HDMI signal and converts it to a USB port. I used this device straight from the DSRL camera. I have also used this device with "Black Magic TV Studio" which I used to control and broadcast multiple camera signals in one HDMI signal. Both settings work without problems. One thing should be noted. When I use this box with USB 3.0 the device is not recognized but as soon as I plugged it into a USB 2.0 port it worked without any problems. The device doesn't have a lot of frills, but what it has works. .
