Doesn't stay connected and attached devices stop working

Purchased to connect a printer, scanner and label maker. All devices that do not require USB power supply. From day one this thing hasn't worked properly. I had to unplug it from my computer and then plug it back in to get the printer or scanner working as the label printer NEVER worked when connected to this hub. Mini USB connector for the cable that goes to the computer. free right out of the box and I have no idea why this thing has a plastic top that pops off as soon as you look at it. Strange. Buy another hub, this one won't do what you want (i.e. work).
