Review on TOOLS Signature Gold Curling Iron by Mandy Gonzalez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Beware! The third application and the hair burned!

This curling iron arrived on the 17th February 2020, I used it once at 350 that day. My hair turned out great. It was easy to use. I always use heat protectant and don't use any additional styling products. A day later I used the iron again, even at 350 heat, and great hair again. However, today I plugged it back in and set it to 350 heat. Just before using the iron, I noticed a "hot" smell. I checked again to make sure I had it set to 350 and not the max temp of 450 and indeed it was set to 350. So I thought the smell might be because it was so new. The moment I put the flat iron on my hair to curl my hair, I immediately smelled like burnt hair and removed the flat iron. late. I didn't even press the flat iron over the strand of hair I wanted to curl over my forehead. The moment the iron touched my hair, it burned it. It smells horrible! Shocked, I combed through a strand of hair and found that many strands came out. Throughout the morning I noticed more hair falling out of this strand. The photo shows that I have long hair and the close-up shows the weird spiky strands that caused that horribly flawed curling iron to burn my hair! I read a review that said someone had been using it for five months and had a similar experience, but thought maybe that person was overusing the iron. I've only had this iron for 3 days and it has already failed and burned my hair. I'm not sure how hot the iron needs to be to burn hair on the first touch, but my guess is that it needs to be well above the 450 max heat temperature. I am returning it and will try another iron with only great reviews. Buyer Warning.
