Revainrating 5 out of 5

GREAT value for money

When you read reviews you really want to know "should I buy this?". The short answer is YES, and here's why. The FiiO A3 amp headphone amplifier has been an integral part of my backpack for several years. Since I prefer using power-hungry wired headphones to regular Bluetooth headphones, a headphone amp really is a must-have, otherwise you just end up hearing a mess without getting the most out of your headphones or music. However, a bad headphone amp can be just as bad or worse than no amp at all. When I opened the box for it, I have to say I was a bit apprehensive. It couldn't be more generic, which is usually a bad sign, but as soon as I took it out, the first thing that struck me was its size and weight. To be honest, it is almost identical to my FiiO. One notable difference is that the FiiO has a bass boost switch while this one doesn't. NOTE: The description says it has a bass boost switch, but that's definitely not the case. Boosting the bass on headphone amps like this is a trick anyway. The construction is amazingly beautiful, all metal with straight and true connectors. It's not USB-C, but for the price, what did you really expect? When I first plugged this amp in, I immediately noticed how quiet it was. No hiss, no buzz, in fact you had to crank it all the way up to get even a hint of any noticeable hiss. Also, my Sennheisers (and everything else I've tested) didn't work any differently with this amp than any of my other amps. Where this amp really shines is in the price. At the time of writing this review, it costs less than $25. U.S. DOLLAR. Are you kidding me? That's a lot less than half my typical daily consumption for almost the same performance. One more thing, I've been using it for 9 days in a row and I still need to charge it. Bottom line, this little guy is doing just fine and doing exactly what he's supposed to do; and it will help you manage your power hungry headphones. No frills, just a little (much needed) extra power. If you're still not sure if these are worth buying, go ahead and jump down so you can BUY NOW. Can I recommend it? um... Yes!
