Review on πŸ”Œ Dorman 800-621 Transmission Oil Cooler Line Connector - Compatible with Ford/Mercury Models, Ideal for Automatic Transmissions by Rick Booth

Great Deal - Save Money!

This part eliminates the need to buy a new expensive radiator and remove/replace the entire radiator. This replacement part stopped a transmission oil leak. I couldn't find any clear instructions on any particular site, but I checked out some of the other reviews here as well as YouTube for more suggestions. First I drained the coolant from the radiator (to collect it for reuse). One of the tools I bought with the part (not a Dorman product) didn't help me disconnect the transmission line from the radiator, it was the "scissors". style tool. I ended up using 2 flathead screwdrivers to permanently pry it off the heatsink (not the best way but it was the most expedient at the time, going in too deep) - no, it didn't come off easily - had to work with that for a few minutes. After I (finally!) disconnected the line from the radiator, I used 2 black rubber plugs to slow down the transmission oil from leaking out of the lines. After temporarily sealing the lines with rubber plugs, I unscrewed the old, worn connector and "hurriedly" screwed in a new Dorman part (I smeared gray sealant on the threads of the new Dorman connector). I then "quickly" reconnected the transmission line to the new Dorman connector because the transmission oil leaked out again. I recommend checking out a few review sites before attempting this to find out the "what ifs". hp If you are swapping both fittings on a Ford radiator, do it one at a time. The coolant line is not connected to the radiator. I'm sure there are easier ways to do this, so check out other reviews and their recommendations.
