This essentially completes the circuit to allow most garage door openers to open or close. I had the "better" version of this product with a motion sensor, timer and a few other things. The problem on the other hand is that your garage door will open and close randomly at any time of the day if something goes wrong. It's really certain that this happens at 2am. I don't think there is an electronic circuit that will cause this problem if it fails, which is why I "switched to this model" after my other one failed. And it has a lock button to prevent remote controls from opening the garage door for any reason. Wireless keyboards will continue to work when this feature is disabled.
