Decent entry level calipers at a great price

I have been using high quality Mitutoyu digital calipers for a number of years and like them for their quality and accuracy. But now that I have an auxiliary workshop elsewhere, I have equipped it with a second set of tools. I like quality tools, but I understand that I don't always need the best product for every occasion. So I have "good" tools (which are usually made in the US, Europe, Japan or Taiwan) and "good enough" tools (which are usually made in China and cost a lot less). last category. They're not the equivalent of the Mitutoya product (sorry for the pun) but they'll do for most applications except for extreme accuracy and cost 1/10th the Japanese product. Within the double-digit accuracy they indicate, they match the Mitutoya well. What do you get at Mitutoya for 10 times the price? You can decide if you need: Metal instead of plastic. Reading accuracy 4 decimal places instead of 2. Calibration certificate. Vernier controller for opening and closing jaws. With Lytool, you squeeze it open or closed, which makes it a bit difficult to get accurate readings. Made in Japan by a famous company. A few more notes on the Lytool caliper: Comes with a battery already installed and a spare battery. It wasn't obvious so I opened up the replacement part to prepare it for installation, but then I accidentally hit the power button and the unit turned on. I can see where the button battery goes when it's time to replace it, but it's not clear how to open the battery cover and the very sparse multilingual instructions don't help. Comes in a protective plastic case, but it's a bit difficult to open. Conclusion: Excellent value for money for most applications. .
