The base is stable, but not familiarly stable, as Quintus Tullius Venator said. The capacity is great - anyone who thought 4oz or 8oz mugs would fit should now be a snail. It's lightweight yet durable, and the matte finish is beautiful. Buy when in doubt. I'm so glad I did.
