I installed this filter on my 1979 F-350 pickup to replace an old Flowmaster that was beginning to rust. I have a couple of Magnaflow mufflers that I have used on my dyno for years. They sound good and dampen well so I wanted something of similar quality for my truck. This model is designed for a 1 in 2 outlet and can also be used with a 2 in 1 outlet, as in my case. Inside the silencer there are two perforated pipes that reach almost to the outlet where they flow into one formed transition converge. There are no sharp edges or dead spots to aid flow. It took me a few hours to install but was fairly easy to weld into the exhaust system. The sound now that it's installed is much quieter than the Flowmaster 524553 it replaced at all speeds and loads. The body of this Magnaflow muffler is longer than the Flowmaster and may be better suited to reducing the sound level of the exhaust, which is nice when I'm towing my trailer. Overall I'm happy with the sound quality of the Magnaflow, I've been using it now. 3,000+ miles and I don't think it sounds any different than when new. The build quality is good, I think it will last a long time.
