Review on 🐠 OASE Biomaster Thermo Indoor Aquatics by Brian Hood

It might just be the perfect canister

I took a chance as there weren't many reviews or videos online. I use this in a mixed reef aquarium and it may very well be the perfect canister for this situation. Quiet first! When I first turned it on there was a slight trickle of water that completely disappeared after a few hours. I suspect he blew out some air pockets at this point. But now it's very still - no rumbling, no rushing water, nothing. The only way to know if it's working is to look at the return line and see the water flowing into the tank. The pre-filter section is amazing. Oase offers 30ppi, 45ppi, 60ppi and 45ppi carbon sponges for the pre-filter. Mine came with 45ppi carbon sponges. I replaced them with thinner 60 ppi sponges, which are roughly equivalent to 250 micron filters. I wash them thoroughly every week with 60 ppi sponges, but the process is very simple and quick. The benefit is that my water gets a shiny appearance and the canister stays clean so I don't have to open and clean it too often. I run the Purigen in a canister so I have to open it up about once a month to replace it and when I do that there is little to no waste in it. The process is excellent. In the canister I have 1/2L Seachem Matrix in the bottom basket, 1/2L Seachem Matrix in the next basket, an empty third basket and 100ml Purigen in the top basket. I let the pre-filter section do all my mechanical filtration and try not to clog the filter with too much media to slow it down. With this setup, I'm pushing 208 GPH to 32 inches in my tank. My tank is 48 gallons at a constant temperature of 79 degrees.
